O U R S T O R Y
Established in 1993, the Asian Pacific American Coalition (APAC) was born out of a need within the Asian Pacific American (APA) community on campus to have a voice, and that voice be carried directly to the administration of the University to create a positive change for the APA community. As a direct result from the proposal written by APAC’s 10 original organizations in 1993, the Asian American Studies Department was created in 1996 and the Asian American Cultural Center was unveiled in 2005. |
From its inception to the present, APAC has sought to reflect the diversity of the APIDA campus population, both on an organizational level and on an individual level. Through education and empowerment, APAC continues to pursue the building of trust and collaboration within the APIDA community on campus to bring needed institutional and social change. At present, APAC is an organization that has grown to over 15 affiliated organizations with representative from these groups meet for biweekly "coalition" meeting in order to unite our diverse community and educate ourselves on relevant issues. |
